What is the stone restoration process?

Before any work or area preparation
We provide a full evaluation to understand the unique complexities that your stone presents. Different stone surfaces have varying properties, so it is essential to understand which treatments are suitable for your stone.

Step one
Mask off and protect the areas of your home or workplace from dust and slurry liquids from the cleaning process.

Step two 
Apply the suitable cleaning solution for your surface, then perform a deep clean with our 17-inch cleaning pad on our floor machine.

Step three
Once the floor is clean, we can quickly identify any damage the floor has sustained from the years of use. We look to identify cracks, scratches, chips, stains, lippage, etching and other damage in this step. Once we have identified areas for repair, we will repair and fill any holes or chips with an appropriate filler.

Step four 
We use diamond pads on our floor and hand machines. The grade of the pads and the number of times we go over the floor depend on the floor’s current state. The diamond pads grind back the floor and remove all of the imperfections found in step three. Grinding back the top layer revives the surface and can bring it back to the look and feel of the floor when installed.

Step five
We refinish the floor. This is a great opportunity to update or potentially try a new type of finish, especially if your home decor has changed to a new style since the original installation. If you had a mirror high gloss finish last time, you might like to try a flat satin honed look and feel.

Step six
We seal the pores of the stone with an impregnable sealer, applied with lambswool. This penetrates the stone and helps to protect it from staining and other damage that can occur from contact with liquids and other substances.
