Common Stone Types

Granite

Granite is the most common igneous rock found on the earth surface. It’s a coarse-grained igneous rock made of quartz and feldspars with small amounts of other materials. Granite is commonly used for benchtops, pavers, curbing, stair treads, building veneer and cemetery stonework.

Marble

Marble is a metamorphic rock that has physically and chemically transformed due to intense heat and pressure. Marble is commonly limestone that recrystallised through this process, and the veining throughout marble are mineral deposits that settled during the transformation.

Cobblestone

Cobblestones are river rocks used for paving and outdoor applications. The round, smooth edges are created as running water, and smaller rocks erode the stone surface. They are often a highly durable stone such as basalt and granite and have been used for roadways, driveways and footpaths for centuries.

Travertine

Travertine is a type of limestone deposited by mineral springs and limestone caves. It is made from a chemical mixture high in calcium carbonate that sets, compresses and forms what we know as travertine.

Sandstone

Sandstone is a type of rock made mostly from sand and other sediments, formed over centuries in lakes, rivers and the ocean floor. Sandstone is commonly used for outdoor pavers, poolside areas, retaining walls, kitchens, bathrooms and decorative applications.

Limestone

Limestone like sandstone, is a sedimentary rock and varies in density. It is mostly calcium carbonate which forms from the solidification of chemical solutions. As the chemicals in limestone are mainly calcium carbonate, limestone has a chemical reaction with acidic cleaning products and is damaged.

Gold Coast Stone Cleaning Professionals

The Gold Coast was originally known as the South Coast but was given the nickname “Gold Coast” in the 1950s due to overinflated real estate prices and goods and services. While the name was initially considered derogatory term by residents, it’s now a convenient way to refer to the tourist bound glitter strip. Today the Gold Coast is renowned for its world class surfing beaches, high-rise dominated skyline, theme parks and nightlife. It also boasts a natural rainforest hinterland just 30 minutes from the Gold Coast hotspot Surfers Paradise. The Gold Coast’s urban population is currently estimated to be 710,000 in 2021, making it the sixth-largest city in Australia and located just south of QLD’s capital Brisbane. The Gold Coast is also immediately north of the NSW border. With a large volume of highrise apartments and homes decorated with stone material, Marble Everlast are the stone restoration specialists that Gold Coast home owners and businesses can rely on.
